I was watching sort of a stitch video that had one genuine comical genius in it which launched me on a journey to find out who he was. I finally learned his name is Collin Everett but what I had to go through to find that out was a ridiculous struggle that took me around the world in seventeen minutes.
I call it “sort of a stitch video” because the guy who recorded himself laughing next to Collin Everett didn’t give the comedian any credit. He just laughed obnoxiously and made the video all about him. A short rant coming up so cover your ears.
I can’t stand stitch videos that are supposed to be funny so the TikToker records themselves laughing. But they start laughing before the funny starts. With mouths wide open and fake tears in their eyes, they shake their heads and point like, “Watch this! Watch what’s coming!”
Uh, yoohoo, TikTokers! Can you wait until it gets funny first? Oh, and also, it would be nice if you matched energy. You know, laugh the way you would normally laugh at a joke. Not the obnoxious laugh you do when you’re trying to get attention.
Back to Collin Everett:
To begin my search, I did what I always do. I made myself a salad and a carrot smoothie…I’m sorry, I couldn’t even write that with a straight face. What I did do was, I grabbed a couple of hotdogs and poured myself a soda. Dr. Pepper to be exact.
The one thing I picked up on in the video was the line, “How to get any girl’s attention at a party.” So, I Googled that. The results were in the thousands. It appears that a lot of people loved this guy long before I ever knew who he was. They had been doing “stitches” with him but again, no one was giving him credit for that original piece of work.
The breakthrough happened when someone in a comment referenced him as Collin. Sometimes, that’s all I need in my investigative journeys. Just a little bit more information and I can blow the case wide open. Now, I had “How to get any girl’s attention at a party” and the name Collin. It turned out, that was good enough.
That brought me to his TikTok page, @collinurrmom. That’s where I learned that this man has 9 million followers. Why hadn’t I heard of him before? I miss out on everything!
The problem I faced now was that he has made nearly 10 billion videos. I’m joking of course, but after scrolling down through them for nearly two days, I still hadn’t found that original video.
Then, I felt really stupid. It was one of those moments when you realize something so simple that it makes you realize how stupid you are. I scrolled back up to the top of his page and selected “Oldest.” That was a game-changer. I found it right away. Now, I’m going to share that with you…
