The image of Star Wars Lasers being in the here and now is too much to grasp. When a video appeared with tree trimmers using a laser to cut a branch, it seemed to come from AI as many fake videos are popping up these days. But is it really too hard to believe?
Watching the video, a blue beam of light reaches up and touches a tree branch. It cuts through and the branch falls. There are men standing around a machine with hard hats. It all looks legit.
Star Wars Lasers
With my expertise, which is none, there is some fakery to this video. As you’ll soon find out, the blue beam of light is a graphic addition. The sound that the laser makes is another.
But is this technology real? It would appear to be. A Chinese company known as Dowell Laser has a complete website about their products that cut through metal with precision. The company promotes the metal side of its functionality more than anything else but tree trimming is part of the purpose.

In fact, there are videos of how these laser machines work. The thing is there are no beams and no funky noises. These aren’t actually Star Wars Lasers. These are real lasers that have control panels where an operator can adjust distance and speed with precision and stay out of the way while the machine handles the rest.
Actual Laser Tree Trimming
It really is crazy to think that the future has arrived. Of course, landscapers might not be too happy with this at the moment. But they can move on to do safer things. There is no longer a need to climb trees and possibly fall or chop off a limb.
The future is here in so many ways. Watch this police officer use a device to move a car. No need to tow it out of a tight space. The device will do all that. The only thing a tow truck is needed for now is on rough terrain where this device can’t go but I feel like that’s the next move in this industry.
