Pantera was rocking on stage while on tour with Metallica, and guess who showed up? That’s right! Jason Momoa is a fan, and he got a little taste of the mosh pit.
Actually, it’s not all that. Jason Momoa is a huge guy who was just standing there dancing. When the mosh pit got close to him, he embraced it and went with it for a moment. But those guys didn’t want a piece of him, and it definitely didn’t look like the mosh pits I used to play in when I was a kid.
Of course, it’s a short clip. I didn’t get to see much of the mosh pit, to be honest. The camera is on Jason, and no one can blame the camera guy for that. Those Pantera fans can get nuts, and I’m sure they were getting down in a different area of the stadium.
Wouldn’t it be nice to be a celebrity and get invited backstage to meet everyone? What would that be like? I’ve been following Metallica since I was 16 years old. They had only formed about five years before that.
I remember a friend of mine back then named John. He built a Dodge Charger from the ground up and was proud of that beast. It had a cassette tape in it, and one night, he popped a tape in and said, “You’ve got to hear these guys.”
To get a good picture of John, he was a leather jacket, blue jeans, and black boots-wearing kind of guy. He had long hair that he sometimes tied back with a rubber band to keep it out of his eyes. This was back in the 80s, and yeah, now that you know how old I am, you know why I walked it back when I started talking about the mosh pit.
