Oprah Winfrey And Dwayne Johnson Getting Help For Hawaii

Oprah Winfrey and Dwayne Johnson have banded together to help the people of Maui in their time of need. What they’re doing is modeled after a fund Dolly Parton had set up years ago to help the people of Gatlinburg, Tennessee when they were hit by wildfires in 2016.

What Oprah Winfrey and Dwayne Johnson have started is called The People’s Maui Fund and it will provide direct assistance to residents who apply for it. They will receive direct funds instead of having to cut through government red tape or get denied for technical reasons while their needs pile up around them. I love the idea that the people will receive the money directly because only they know what their actual needs are and how to meet them.

The best part is Oprah Winfrey and The Rock didn’t just start the fund through the Entertainment Industry Foundation but they put their own money into it first in the amount of $10 million. When Dolly Parton helped the people of Gatlinburg, it came to about $11 million to help everyone in need. So, I’d say that $10 million is a great place to start.

With a death toll of 115 so far, the wildfires have been devastating to more than just the island of Maui. It’s the island that has felt the most devastation.

The fun will accept any amount of money that you have to give and I’m quite sure you can give anonymously if you’d like. Even $10 or $20, if enough people donate that much, there will be more than enough money for anyone who applies to get the money they need to rebuild their lives after what they’ve gone through.

With Oprah Winfrey and Dwayne Johnson promoting it and standing behind it, I know the fund will provide and that’s exactly the kind of activity this world needs. A world of help is a breath of fresh air and restores hope in humanity.
